President’s Message for June 2009
This was one of the most challenging month of May I can remember. We went from record breaking temperatures with no rain to record amounts of rainfall. For about two weeks, we barely could catch a glimpse of sun in Brooksville. It made me feel like a vampire!!! We needed the rain and I'm sure the chemical companies didn't mind all those fungicide sales.

For all of you that missed the UF Turfgrass Field Day, it was not rained out!!! The crew from UF had a rain plan and it went off rather smoothly. Thanks to Mark Kann, his staff, and the UF Faculty for great day under bad conditions. Everything was conducted inside and although there was no opportunity to walk through the plots (unless you wanted to get wet), the speakers wre about to provide a great deal of detail to their presentations. By the way, the boiled peanuts were awesome.

The June 18th meeting will be our Annual Meeting at Candler Hills. Andy Jorgensen will once again be our host for this event. There is no guest speaker for this event, but we will conduct a short meeting to conclude the year.

Remember that membership renewal are due by July 15. If you haven't received a form you can fill it out online or call Mary for a form. We have added a late fee this year for all you procrastinators, so be sure to get your renewal in on time. So why not bring your renewal and payment with you on the 18th at Candler Hills.
