Past President’s Message for December 2009

Thank you to all that attended and supported our Annual Holiday Meeting at Juliette Falls this year. The Toys-for-Tots was once again a huge success. Thank you to all that donated to the worthy cause. Also, thank you to Mark Kann and his band of elves for going out and purchasing all those toys. Thanks to Steve Keller and his crew for hosting the meeting and providing an excellent venue once again.

Our Association has some sad news to report. Phil Power, a former member of ours, lost his battle with brain cancer and has passed away. He has worked for numerous members of our Association over the past 15 years including John Cunningham, Jimbo Rawlings, Andy Jorgensen, and most recently Steve Keller. We were made aware of his family's financial hardship and we as a loving and giving group were able to put our hearts and wallets together and raise over $700 at the meeting. If you are hearing this for the first time and would like to help out, please call me. Phil's funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 19 with a viewing at 2:00-2:30pm followed by the service and burial from 3:00-3:30pm. The location is Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetary, 5955 N. Lecanto Hwy, Beverly Hills, FL. The phone number is 352-746-4551.

We passed out the new membership directories at the December Meeting. Ray Hill and Mary Antal did an excellent job once again. For those that did not attend the meeting, your directory will be mailed out within the next few weeks. Remember, if your information changes over the course of the year, please let Ray or Mary know so that we can update your information.

Our January meeting is scheduled for January 13th at Continential CC in Wildwood. Barry Greenwalt is the host superintendent and the educational speaker has yet to be announced, but there will be one.
