President's Message for September 2010
Greetings to All; The “Dog days of summer” are here with heat and
an unrelenting rain amounts that continue to top previous years that were thought to be record breakers. I
don’t know about the rest of our chapter but I have had enough rain. August has produced 21 days
of rain totaling 16.55 inches. I know most of you can survive the rain events due to proper drainage and
construction, but a flat course and runway runoff causes havoc at my location. I want to send a “Thank You”
to Frank O’Dell for hosting this past chapter meeting on August 19 at Royal Oaks Golf Club. We understand
the difficulty it is to host a meeting during these lean times and we appreciate the opportunity every facility offers enabling
us to gather, meet, and socialize on a monthly basis. We are considering a change of venue for our November meeting.
Our annual fishing trip is a great time, but we may be considering a more centrally located event in Ocala.
Some ideas are bowling, skeet shooting, to name a few. We are asking for ideas that can handle more
than the regular 25 that attend the fishing trip. I’m attempting this in an effort to increase attendance
and to try a different sporting activity that may allow others to attend the November meeting. We are still
in the process of investigation for the fishing trip and charter to facilitate our group. Please check in your area and see
if an activity can be scheduled for our chapter.
We have a couple of events in September as reminders, the FTGA Conference and Show September 15, thru September 17,
2010 in Orlando, and Superintendent/Pro Championship at Stone Creek Golf Club in Ocala on September 30, 2010 at 1:00 pm. “Thank
You” again Frank O’Dell and your staff for hosting a chapter meeting at your facility. Sincerely,
Dan Adams President
